The is the second book in the Rainbow Place series by Jay Northcote. I gotta say, I loved the first one better, but this was a great book on it's own too. Cam is a 23 yr old rugby playing nice guy with a good job and a great group of friends. When he helps clean up the vandalism at Rainbow Place he meets Alex, a 17 yr old who's in the closet because his father is a homophobic arse. Because of the complications of getting involved, Cam decides over and over again that he is better served as Alex's friend than anything further. As Alex comes to terms with this decision, his life turns on its axis and he's hoping that Cam will be there for him.

I think the one key aspect that was missing in this for me was the depth of the characters. I felt like Alex was unwilling to change at first, but then when his life was upended, he expected everyone else to change. And Cam... he was a great friend, but I kept looking at how much of the book I had to go when I was close to being finished and he was still trying to just be friends with Alex.

Again, I gave this 4 stars because I was totally wrapped up in it and wanted to find out what happened and overall really enjoyed this one.

Ethan Stone and Ben Cronin are private security guards for actors Lucas and Kyle (from Book 1). After saving them from a burning building, Ethan passes out from smoke inhalation and Ben is shot, recovering in the hospital. When the paparazzi dig up dirt on Ethan's past, he's too worried to see Ben.

When Ethan's sister calls needing help, he races to Wyoming and runs into Ben and Cameron, his twin brother. The help she needs brings them together again to face their feelings and fears.

I was thrilled to be able to read and review this one. I have to admit, I liked the cheesiness and the bad jokes. I loved how tactile Ben was and how, being both strong alpha types, they put it all out there, honestly and consistently. The story was intriguing, the characters were awesome and real and I read this in a single day. I was super excited to see a cliffhanger, knowing more is to come!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was given this ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Kyle Beaumont steps onto the track for the first day of his dream job in the pit crew of the famous car racer Elliot Judd. Elliot is known for his rockstar racecar driver persona... wild and carefree. When they first meet eyes, Kyle is unable to look away. And soon he has to decide if his life is ready to change completely.

This started out badly. I was maybe 15% in and thought that this wasn't going anywhere. There were a lot of bad scenes and I felt like Kyle had no spine. Once it started getting into the full story, though, I really enjoyed it. Yes, there were issues for me. I think it's hard to believe that someone like Elliot would completely change his ways in a couple of weeks or less, but the relationship was so sweet and honest.

Charlie King is a widower. He's a single dad to a 17 yr old daughter and he's a writer. Things aren't perfect but his life is just fine. When his new neighbor Simon Lynley introduces himself things are suddenly not so fine anymore, but it the very best way. It's one thing after another for both of them with false starts and false stops, but there's plenty of laughter and plenty of good.

I honestly loved this book. The writing blew me away. Charlie couldn't stop talking and it was the best thing ever. I felt so much for him in just a few early pages. His love of Cheez It's had me right away and there was just something about the way he processed everything that made him so profound. And Simon. Man, he was the exact match. He had his character flaws, but he was so grounded and genuine and caring and loving.

Honestly, I read this in one sitting and didn't want it to end. I can't wait to read more.

Okay, so I'm pretty new to the whole Alpha/Omega thing. I can count the number of books I've read on one hand with this kind of relationship and I have to say, this is probably my favorite of those. Seriously. The story was well written about Kurt, a wealthy investor who finds himself in need of a fake boyfriend to get his mother off his back. Cue Evan, the omega bar owner/real estate investor who has a chip on his shoulder and a messy life.

The relationship that builds between them is so real and so innocently fun. I loved all of the jokes and the playful chasing each other. It was everything. So yeah, I loved this book.

So, I think 'erotic romance' is pushing the description. I don't read erotica, and I took a chance here and was glad I did. For a novella, there was plenty of storyline and it was interesting to see the relationships between Angelus and his mother, and then later with Marcus and Angelus's mother. It was quick and the writing was sharp and I felt like I learned something when I was done.

I was given an ARC by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Mark is a college student just trying to get by when he meets Scott, and older, wealthy businessman. After spending the weekend together, Mark finds out they have a lot in common. He's trying to land an internship at the company that Scott is an exec at. Mark has a lot of pride. Will he let that get in the way?

I really really enjoyed this book. It was short enough to read in a single sitting. I just kept thinking how sweet Scott was. He truly cared for Mark and wanted to take care of him. Although I enjoyed Mark's character as well, I found him acting sometimes very childish.

The overall theme was fun to see how the man with the entitlements and money was the less prideful. Great story and writing.

When Karl finally shares some of his secrets, Raine has to decide if he's worth a mission that could result in execution.

This was a quick read and it was fun. Zooming through the galaxy at light speed with AI and spider looking robots is quite an adventure. I liked the story and it held my interest. I'd recommend this book.

Thank you to NineStar Press, LLC and NetGalley for allowing me to read this work. My review and opinions are entirely my own.

After teenager Cherry is missing the morning after a party, her brother Josh discovers a ransom note in the mailbox. $2M to get her back. When the first payoff attempt goes bad, a second attempt is set up with the FBI involved. In the background, it's discovered that the family is very well off, but has cut off Josh from all funds. The relationship between his parents is strained, as well as everyone else in his life.

I was unsure of this one. I loved the mystery, but found that what I suspected from the start was truly what happened. I did find the relationships between all of the characters very interesting. And I loved the parallel between Agent Phisburry and her son and Josh and his parents.

Overall, it was an entertaining, quick and fun read.

Jimmy is in his 20's and single, still thinking about Luke, the one that got away. Everything seemed fine until one day he just left and was never heard from again. It's 3 years later and Luke waltzes back into Jimmy's life, but can they just pick back up where they left off?

This started out with a lot of promise, but 2/3 through I started not liking it. Things took a downward spiral and by the end I felt like I wasn't sure why the relationship was happening at all. I felt like they were missing something and was almost hoping for a different ending. I will say that I started out loving Jimmy and ended up loving Luke.

Instead of sending him to a shelter he offers to let him stay in exchange for helping with the reno. Mystery surrounds the pair when the house is upset at the prospect of being sold.

I really enjoyed this read. It had a different edge than a regular MM romance. The paranormal vibe was fun and fresh and added some mystery and intrigue. I would definitely recommend this fun, quick read.

OMG. This book was magic. It was amazing. It was everything. I have not read any of the Luxen books, but I'm going to now. This is based on an alien planet that migrated to Earth many years ago, unbeknownst to most of society. 4 years ago there was a war against the Luxen and many were killed. 17 year old Evie decides to go to a club with her BFF and meets Luc, who seems to know her from somewhere. After that night, her life is never the same and everyone she's ever known is not who they seem to be.

I honestly loved everything about this book. It was intense. It was smart. It was funny. It was clean. I read it all in one sitting and did NOT want it to end. I can't wait until the next book comes out. You MUST read this!

I love a second chance story and I love the basis of Persuasion. This covered it so well for me and it was a simple, sweet story that was just perfect. I loved the character of Adam. He was so devoted and eager and knew what he wanted. Freddy seemed to settle down in his life as the years progressed and became successful and happy. This was a really fun, quick and easy read.

To his surprise, not only is she into what he's been hiding, but she forces him to let go of his walls and be the man he has always wanted to be.

This isn't a book I would typically read, however, it kept me totally interested. I loved the story of Jason being scared and thinking he was a bad person, just to find out that he shared the same kinks as a ton of other people, and it didn't make it wrong. The writing was brilliant. I loved it.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was given this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I haven't read any of the other 5 books in this series, but I didn't feel as though I was missing any information. I would consider this a stand alone novel.

Peter is living in NYC under protective custody by the marshals. He's been given a job as a decorator and hired by the very rich, pretty famous Keegan Cunningham. When the relationship gets very serious, very quickly, Keegan attempts to take Peter's safety into his own hands and try to get him out from under his abusive mafia ex-husbands control.

I actually liked this one. It was kind of an insta-love but I felt like there was enough of a relationship there and enough of a story that it didn't bother me. Truly, the suspense and the amount of adventure in this one was awesome. Kept me completely hooked until the very end.

I honestly did not care for this book. There were so many spelling errors and grammatical errors. I was so disturbed by the baby talk between two mafia type men at the start of the book. I feel like the entire first half was written in such a juvenile form. The second half did get better and the story picked up, but it wasn't believable to me. The main character of Colt felt like the honest, emotional, supportive one, but then that turned on a dime. I just couldn't get into this story at all.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was given this ARC by Booksprout in exchange for an honest review.

This is the second book in this series. I really enjoyed the first book and it was my first mafia romance. What was so surprising to me was that the men in the books are strong, demanding men, yet they have their vulnerable side that they show to the women that they love. Reading that is so refreshing when most of the stories like this end up being BDSM type books.

After reading the first book I was worried that this second book wouldn't stand a chance, but I liked it just as much. I loved the character of Nick. He was so real and honest. I was worried because I didn't like the character of Minka in the Asher Black story, but in this episode we understand her drive and it made me appreciate her a bit more.

Asher BlackAsher Black by Parker S. Huntington
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was given this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Asher Black is the owner of multiple corporations, clubs, hotels and a former 'fixer' for the mafia. Lucy is a college student with a rough past who calls the police when she sees a man with a gun at a nightclub. Asher tracks her down a month later and turns her into his fake fiance.

This is my first mafia romance and I have to say, I didn't think I'd be that into it when I first started this book, but it was a trip. It was funny and romantic and exciting. I loved that Lucy grew up bouncing from one foster home to another and ended up becoming a very strong woman instead of a mess. I also loved that Asher wasn't a total womanizer, nor was he the dominant 'boss' that you'd expect from someone in his position with his status. They worked well together and there was no insta-love, which was a nice relief. This was a very, very slow burn, which made it so much better. Lovely work, Ms. Huntington.

Waiting for WalkerWaiting for Walker by Robin Reardon

This book was so very different than anything I've read in a while. I loved the character of Micah, who's spending his last summer of high school at home with his functional alcoholic mother, who's grief stricken at the loss of Micah's older brother Dylan. As a photographer, Micah is shooting at the beach where he sees a blond boy, his age, and they quickly start a friendship that tests the bounds of family, status, gender and society.

There were so many different stories going on at once, each of them relating to love and acceptance. I really got a feel for each character and grew to want to see each one with a happy ever after. Walker was exceptional. He was so pure and truthful and refreshing. What a good, simple story full of such complex issues.

I loved the first half of this book. I loved all of the futuristic technology and the bioaugs and the mystery surrounding Cyrex Corp. But I found the further I read that the slow burn of mystery ended and each obstacle was overcome in a page or two. When I got to the end, I also didn't feel the relationship. It felt dislocated to me. There wasn't enough emotion or anything to tie it together.

Overall, I enjoyed the book, however the second half disappointed a little bit.

I mean, everyone loves a story about a second chance at the one that got away and this is a great story. It's told in both his and her point of view, which is fun. The writing. I don't even know what to say. It was like nothing I've ever read. It was exceptional. As cliche and rote as this sounds, I feel like I've transcended some level of knowledge now that I've read this. This book shows love and hate and fear and anger and truth and light in the most heartbreaking courageous way.

Andrew has Autism and has lost his father, his mother, his uncle, his best friend. He's waiting for the day to finally join them. Kiernan has just been outed to his school and is the victim of an unfathomable hate crime. They both decide that everyone around them would be better off without them, thus ending their lives on the same night.

But fate and destiny and a higher being has other plans. Andrew's family shows Andrew the meaning of life and why we are here on Earth. They give Andrew the keys to help him help Kiernan understand that more people love him and that hope is everything.

After nearly crashing into biker Oz, he’s thinking of hiring some help to give him more free time. Unfortunately for Oz, he hires his ex, Rene, who wants him back.

I loved this story. I thought that the character of Oz was perfect. He was equal parts smart and snarky and was was totally what you see is what you get. Anthony was such a nerdy, awkward guy lacking in self confidence yet could also be completely cocky and confident with Oz. Their dynamic was fun and adventurous and totally believable.

There was plenty of storyline to entertain and it flowed evenly. Great, great read!

When the Lights Go OutWhen the Lights Go Out by Mary Kubica
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I received this ARC from NetGalley and Harlequin in exchange for an honest review.

Jessie Sloane hasn't slept in days as she sits by her mother's bedside during her final hours of life. The tale spins from there, taking the reader through her mother's death and the days following, as Jessie tries to answer the question 'Who is Jessica Sloane?'. The reader is also taken back to Jessie's mom's life of trying to conceive a child.

Honestly, I didn't love this book. The writing was phenomenal, as is typical of a Mary Kubica book, however, I felt like the middle was slow and unending and then when it finally picked up in the last 10%, the end left you with a gaping hole. I closed the book thinking, really? That's the ending that she chose?

I got sick of reading 'Who is Jessica Sloane?' and 'Who am I?'

I would say, if you are a Mary Kubica fan, it's worth the read, but it isn't her best work.

I really enjoyed this post apocalyptic style book. The conventions of familial parts was interesting. It was somewhat confusing at first, with Mother being a man and the fact that witches were a desired species in a village.

The story was short and sweet and seemed like a great prequel to another in the series. This book was about the relationships of characters and their nature. I loved the writing and the two main characters, Gerry and Ghost. Very well done.

Honestly, I was disappointed. I thought there was so much potential given the fact that Cade had been in the military on another planet. Another planet was mentioned, but nothing happened. There are self driving cars, yet Cade is a driver for Sebastian.

I thought the writing was good, yet the dialogue was rudimentary.

Cal's visiting NY for the summer on a tight budget, working in his Uncle's store and living with his best friend, Derek, in a dirty, small apartment. It's love at first sight, but in a good way. Soon they are on a trip to Greece for their wedding when they encounter a long list of hilarious follies as well as moments of terror.

Honestly, this book was everything I was hoping for and then some. I loved it. I loved the hilarity of the escapades. I loved that Cal had a sense of humor and said, "Gosh" when someone was trying to kidnap him. Brendan was true to his character in his endless search and I loved how he could forgive Derek even after the long list of disasters that they encountered.

Thank you for writing such a fun, entertaining, sweet story!

Escaping Exile (Escape Trilogy, #1)Escaping Exile by Sara Dobie Bauer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was given this ARC by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I love, love, loved this book.

The vampire Andrew has killed one too many people and is exiled from New Orleans to an island in South America. After 4 years of living off the land and animals, another ship is wrecked on shore and there is a survivor. Given the chance at drinking human blood, Andrew must decide his fate. Does he want company more than his thirst? Is he strong enough to keep this human alive? In the end, how much can he take?

This was a short one, but I truly loved every word. The relationship was sweet and endearing and I felt like I was reading a fable towards the end. I cannot wait to read the rest of this Escape Trilogy. Book one was FANTASTIC!

A Tangled LegacyA Tangled Legacy by Mickie B. Ashling
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I loved everything. I was hooked from the start and couldn't put it down. Alain and Colin were magical perfection. Andrew was a wonderful ghost twin. Two wonderful, capable, loving, fun fathers. It was everything. The perfect match of fantasy, witchcraft, romance and deceit.

There was nothing but awesome spellbinding, magical whimsy in this book. So so good.

ExclusiveExclusive by Samantha Chase
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this book. First of all, I liked that Taylor was outgoing and smart and cautious and spoke her mind. She stood up for herself. I liked Mike as well. He came from a hard childhood to become a better man.

I liked that there was highs and lows and the relationship wasn’t perfect from the start. It was real.

What I didn’t like was that it seemed like nothing was ever resolved between them. They fought, some time passed and they reconnected without reconciliation.

Overall, it kept my interest and was a good story.

A Touch of HeavenA Touch of Heaven by Samantha Chase
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I always love a good Samantha Chase story. They are always well written and keep you entertained until you get that happy ever after. This book was no exception.

Sawyer is a contractor with a tv show. Regan is unhappy about her mother selling her childhood home, but is even more unhappy when she finds that they are going to be on a tv show renovating the home prior to selling. When she meets Sawyer, she isn't sure if she should protest, or get to know him better.

A great read!

Left HangingLeft Hanging by Cindy Dorminy
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Theo and Darla meet at a frat party and spend one magical night together that changes both of their lives forever, but one of them doesn't know it for 7 years. They never exchanged names and miscommunications leave them both unsure of the past and the future.

I have to say that I loved the characters in this book. Theo and Darla were awesome, but I loved Isaac so much, too. The entire Edwards family was amazing. The writing was great. There was plenty of wit and jokes and fun, as well as feels. The only aspect that left me giving this book 4 stars was the constant build up of miscommunication until almost the very end. It got to be too much for me.

Equilibrium (Superpowered Love #1)Equilibrium by Katey Hawthorne
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I was given this ARC by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Hansen and Sam meet in school when they realize they both have super powers and are 'awakened'.

I felt like the story had so much potential to get into the super hero thing with the power to create fire and electricity, but there was very little of that. It was more of a love story, which is great, but I feel like it could have been so much more.

Overall, the story was satisfying and the writing was well done, so three stars.

Auction ActionAuction Action by Andrew Grey
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I was given this ARC from NetGalley and Riverdale Avenue Books in exchange for an honest review.

Frederick is a very small man with a very large ego. He meets Duncan at an auction and it's instalust. Duncan is taken with Frederick and is willing to submit to him in every way.

Honestly, I'm not sure about this book. I read it in one sitting because I was entertained and the writing was excellent and flowed. I just didn't think that anyone would give up that much power to a 4'8" man on first sight. It wasn't believable to me and it was difficult to get past that aspect.
